Iran shorts win award in Brazil

Two Iran short films have been granted award at the 10th edition of Lobo Fest - International Film Festival in Brasilia, Brazil.

‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri succeeded to grab Special Jury Prize at the International Short Film Section of the event.

Honorable Mention of the Short Film Section was also presented to ‘Fish’ by Saman Hosseinpour.  

‘Retouch’ is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene.

The film has previously won Best Short Film awards at the Krakow Int’l Film Festival, the Palm Springs Int’l Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival, all in the US.

‘Retouch’ has also grabbed the Best Fiction Film award at the Short Movie Club in Belarus, the Best Int’l Short award at the Audi Dublin Int’l Film Festival in Ireland, and the top prize for best short film as well as the audience choice award at the Ibn Arabi Int’l Film Festival in Spain.

Hosseinpour’s ‘Fish’ is about the issue of shortage of water in Iran.

The Lobol Fest - International Film Festival is a festival whose main challenge is to present to its audience a comprehensive global overview of the CINEMA OF NOW, with a focus on audiovisual pluralism – from short to feature films, comprehending independent productions, the new audiovisual experiments and opening windows for movie makers outside the commercial circuit and enhancing the new languages.

The 10th edition of the festival was held on November 27-December 4, 2018 in Brazil.
